Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Olmsted County has seen a large increase in COVID-19 cases with the weekly total climbing from 73 to 129 between June 8th and June 22nd.

.The county reported 12 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday. That was below the daily average of 17 the county has seen the past 3 weeks.

As of Tuesday, the county had confirmed 1058 cases and 15 deaths. Just 4.3-percent of the cases have involved long-term care facilities.

Nearly half of the overall total involves county residents in their 20s and 30s. The 20-29 age group accounts for 24.4-percent of positive cases. The 30-39 group accounts for 20.2-percent The next largest age group is 6-19 with a 14.1-percent rate.

As of July 1st, 24,866 tests had been conducted in Olmsted County and the positivity rate was 3.8%.

Olmsted County Public Health Services is reporting 144 active cases. It is also tracking 30 active clusters. So far, the department has identified 143 clusters.

As of July 1st, COVID-19 patients in the county who needed hospitalization made up 9-percent off all cases with about a third requiring intensive care.
