Dierks Bentley Flies Himself Home Sometimes From Concerts
In addition to being one of country music's most notable names, Dierks Bentley can also call himself a pilot. Having obtained his pilot's license since 1997, Bentley has put that skill to good use, flying himself home on his private plane after concerts in order to get home to his family quicker.
"I'm a pilot, so I fly myself a lot," he shares with E! News. "I've had a pilot's license for a while and that's helped out a lot with getting back and forth some."
Bentley often spends a majority of the year on the road touring. As a father to three young kids, having the ability to be in control of his own transpiration allows Bentley to maximize the time he spends with his family in the midst of hectic touring life.
"I don't like being gone any more than I have to be. I love being out here and doing this, but when it's time to go home, I'll find a way to get back for birthdays and first days of school, any break there is," he says.
His pilot's license is sure to come in handy when he ventures out on the Burning Man Tour in 2019. Named after the second single off his 2018 album The Mountain, Bentley launches the tour in Canada from Jan. 17-29. He then begins the U.S. trek on Feb. 14 in Ontario, Calif. with dates scheduled through March 30. He's expected to add more cities in the coming weeks.
Jon Pardi and Tenille Townes will join Bentley as opening acts, along with appearances by his '90s country parody band Hot Country Knights.
