They didn't change too much from last year, but the list of the most popular boys and girls names in Minnesota has once again been announced. And the winners are...

It's always interesting to me when it comes to the ebb and flow of popular baby names. For instance, one of the more popular girls' names for a while now has been the name Emma. But instead of a name you'd give your little girl, that name still reminds me of the little old lady named Emma who was our neighbor back in Wisconsin when my brother was born.

According to this TwinCities.com story, the Social Security Administration compiles the list of the most popular names for boys and girls in every state. So, here's the latest list for Minnesota for last year. (And, suffice it to say, 'Curt' didn't make this list-- although I don't think even made the list back when I was born, either.)

MINNESOTA'S MOST POPULAR BOY NAMES FOR 2017
Oliver
William
Henry
Liam
Theodore

MINNESOTA'S MOST POPULAR GIRL NAMES FOR 2017
Olivia
Evelyn
Emma
Charlotte
Nora

The story also said Minnesota differed slightly when it came to the national Most Popular Names list-- which included "Liam, Noah, William, James and Logan for boys,  and Emma, Olivia, Ava, Isabella and Sophia for girls," the story said.

And in my home state of Wisconsin, it looked like this: "Henry, Oliver, Liam, William and Logan were Top 5 for boys. The girls were most likely to be named Emma, Olivia, Evelyn, Charlotte and Ava," the story noted.
