We'd heard back in January that a familiar restaurant in downtown Rochester would be closing its doors sometime this spring, and we now know when it'll serve its last entree.

The City Cafe, on 1st Av. southwest in downtown Rochester, announced earlier this year that it would be closing-- but only to remodel and reopen as a new upscale Mexican restaurant, called Hefe Rojo.

When the new restaurant concept was first announced, the plan apparently was to close City Cafe for "a few weeks sometime in March" as it transitioned to the new concept. Well, March is nearly over, and until this morning, I'd yet to hear when the new restaurant would open.

While I haven't seen a firm date for the opening of the new Hefe Rojo, I did note a post on the City Cafe Facebook page that said the restaurant will be open for slightly over two weeks, saying that "April 16 will be our Big City Cafe closing party."

I also noted on the City Cafe Facebook page that even though most of the staff will remain the same when the new Hefe Rojo opens, they're also looking for additional employees for the new restaurant. The post said, "Now Interviewing for Creative Cuisine's New Concept!! Hefe Rojo!! Servers/Hosts/Food Runners/Bartenders Fill out your application atwww.live2dine.com/employment. Interviews will be scheduled April 3 10a-4p and April 4 9a-4p."

So if you're a fan of City Cafe, get there one last time while you can in the next two weeks!
