If you are into cultural experiences, I've heard that Mardi Gras in Louisiana is one of the most fun events you will ever attend. It's one big party that dates back thousands of thousands of years. According to the History Channel, it's a Christan holiday that happens on Tuesday before Lent kicks off.

In the Catholic Religion, Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter. Most folks fast during that time and Mardi Gras was the chance for them to enjoy the foods they love before the fasting began. The word Mardi Gras is a French word that translates to "Fat Tuesday." That is why the celebration kicks off on a Tuesday. In some parts of the world, it is called Carnival. That's because of the parades, masks, beads and bright colors that are often worn at the event.

Even though we aren't close to Louisiana, there are still Mardi Gras events happening in Rochester, Minnesota. Here are four events that you can attend if you want to enjoy yourself on "Fat Tuesday."

This event is taking place on February 25th from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Tickets are $55 a person and include dinner, a drink, and party favors. The menu consists of traditional Louisiana foods. Rumor has it they are going to have Beignets for dessert. These are donut-like pastries that are so so yummy.

Cameo Restaurant is also hosting a shrimp boil on February 25th from 7 pm to 9 pm. They will have your traditional boil with shrimp, corn and potato served on the table. There will be live music and more. Tickets are $50 a person. The catch here is there are only 40 tickets available.

LTS Brewing has teamed up with Firebrick Bread Zumbrota for a Mardi Gras party. There will be pizza and beer available. They are even giving free beer to the best-dressed person. The event is taking place at LTS from 3 pm to 10 pm.

This event is held to raise money for the American Cancer Society. They are having live music, traditional Mardi Gras food, and cocktails from 5:30 to 9 pm. All the funds that are raised throughout the night will help their Real Men Wear Pink campaign happening later this year.
