Frankie Ballard is going to become a father in 2020. The "Helluva Life" singer shares that his wife Christina is due with the couple's first child in February, and they're waiting to find out if it's a boy or girl.

"I can only describe it as a combination of emotion and words," Ballard tells People of learning the news. "Shock-tacular, grateful, awe."

The pair were married in Texas in March 2017. Christina tells the magazine that she's been craving various kinds of potato chips and mini pickles since becoming pregnant. The quotes are sprinkled among several chic photos of the couple lounging in a tiger striped leotard (her) and navy blue suit (him). Expect them to walk the CMA red carpet next week.

“Purpose is the gasoline of any great creative fire," Ballard says, "and a growing family reminds me just how bad I want to make music for mine."

Ballard is working on his fourth studio album, his first since El Rio in 2016. Talking to Taste of Country at Hometown Rising in Kentucky in September, he insinuated he was going through changes with his music business team that would lead to a new chapter in his career.

"I'm trying to build an arsenal," he says. "So that when we get back with a new product out there it's not just a couple of new songs, it's an arsenal."

There's no timeline for the new music, although he did share new songs at Hometown Rising. One is a Motown-inspired song called "Try, Try, Try" that he co-wrote with Kristian Bush.
