Granger Smith Strips Down for His Pre-Show Ritual: The Ice Bath [Watch]
Granger Smith has a high-intensity live show, so the "Happens Like That" singer seeks out an extra energy boost before taking the stage.
"Nice little ice bath," he says in a clip posted to Instagram as he prepares the water. "It's gonna be cold! I got my temperature right where I want it, 49 degrees. My heart rate's already going. I'm already nervous! I'm going to go for about three-and-a-half minutes."
As the singer strips down to his red bathing suit, he holds his phone upright before taking the plunge. As he braces for the cold, he continues to film his time in the ice bath so fans can witness what he goes through.
"Better than Yee Yee Energy," he says, referencing his energy drink line. "Not many things are better than Yee Yee Energy, but ice baths are." Watch Smith mentally and emotionally prepare for his ice dunk in the video above.
More Shirtless Country Singers Here!
Smith is spending time on the road for select dates as part of Luke Bryan's Huntin,' Fishin' & Lovin' Every Day Tour and previously toured with Florida Georgia Line. The singer even collaborated with FGL's Tyler Hubbard for his new single, "Happens Like That."
It is the first song to be released from Smith’s upcoming album, due out this fall. The singer-songwriter says that writing the song happened organically while he was on tour. Smith had several friends out on the road with him when it came together, including Hubbard and co-writers Jordan Schmidt, Justin Wilson and Andy Albert.
“The song came from the idea that as soon as you sort of stop looking and are content with being single, that’s when the love of your life walks into your life,” Smith explains. “That narrative unfolded as all of us had lived it. It’s when we least expect it — it happens like that.” The song follows the success of Smith’s previous two singles, the Top 5 hit “If the Boot Fits” and his first No. 1, “Backroad Song.”
