Heatwave Arrives Friday in Southeast Minnesota; May Set Records

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Records may be set in parts of southeast Minnesota over the next few days as temperatures will rise into the 90s.

The heatwave will linger into next week with highs in the upper 80s. It's also possible above-average temperatures will continue through the middle of the month.

The National Weather Service is advising residents to be prepared for the sudden appearance of summer weather. According to the NWS:

Heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths most years, so it's very important to take safety precautions.

Rochester’s record high for Friday is 93 degrees, set in 1934. Saturday’s record high is 94 degrees, also set in 1934.
