Ordinarily, a random Thursday in late August in Minnesota wouldn't necessarily be all that bad for traffic in the Twin Cities. But today isn't your ordinary Thursday. There are FOUR different big events-- plus the State Fair-- that could make traffic tough.

First, after winning 11-1 Wednesday night, the Twins go for the sweep and take on the White Sox at Target Field at noon today. Then, at 6, the Gophers step into the PJ Fleck era with their first game of the 2017 football season taking on the Buffalo Bulls at TCF Bank Stadium.

Not to be outdone, the Vikings wind up their 2017 pre-season by hosting the Miami Dolphins at 7 at the new US Bank Stadium. And, also at 7, the Saints are in action at CHS Field in St. Paul, taking on the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

And, of course, there's also going to be about 150,00 folks visiting the Great Minnesota Get-Together at the fairgrounds just off Snelling Avenue in Falcon Heights, too.

That is a LOT of extra traffic set to hit the Twin Cities during the typical afternoon rush hour traffic. Officials say you'll probably want give yourself plenty of extra time-- and patience-- if you're heading to the Twin Cities later today!
