If You Get to Meet Keith Urban at We Fest, Don’t Do What I Did
We have your chance to hang out backstage with Keith Urban at We Fest in August, but if you get to meet him, don't do what I did when I met him.
First, here's how YOU could meet Keith Urban August 1st at We Fest: Listen to Quick Country 96.5 (listen LIVE on our app HERE). When you hear two Keith songs in a row, you could win We Fest tickets-- it's 2-in-a-row, you go to the show. But when you hear THREE Keith songs back-to-back-to-back, you could win backstage passes-- it's 3-in-a-row, backstage to meet Keith you'll go!
So, if you DO meet him, I'd advise NOT doing what I did when I met him back at Country Jam in Eau Claire several years ago-- and that's touching his butt. Yeah, I did it. It was inadvertently, of course, but, still. Here's how it happened:
First off, let me say that Keith was one of the NICEST artists I've had the pleasure to meet. He seemed genuinely interested in what you were saying. I remember him saying that was his first visit to northern Wisconsin-- he'd previously only been in Madison-- and he got a kick out of the fact that he'd heard we can actually drive on our lakes when they're frozen over in the winter. (Being a New Zealand native who grew up in Australia, that was quite the wild thought, apparently.)
We then got our group together for a picture with Keith, and THAT'S when it happened. I was on Keith's immediate left, and as we scrunched together so we could all be in the photo, I put my right arm around Mr. Urban.
We took the picture, but as we were moving away and I was bringing my right arm back down, it grazed, momentarily, on Keith's posterior. It was probably only for a millisecond or so-- and, no, Keith didn't appear to notice-- but I remember thinking to myself, "Hey-- I just touched Keith Urban's butt!"
It's quite the memory-- one that's seared into my cerebrum to this day, over a decade later. And, it's something you don't get to say every day-- unless you're Nicole Kidman, that is. Still, though, you probably DON'T want to do that if you get to meet him at We Fest...
