Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 begins in two months, but recent news — and one very juicy Reddit thread — may have revealed who lives, who dies and where the drama unfolds.

Two teaser videos also hint at what's waiting for fans this fall. Filming looks to be nearly finished, meaning an official trailer might just be days away.

The Dutton Rules podcast will also resume soon. Expect a new episode with Billy Dukes and Adison Haager on Monday (Sept. 9) — you'll find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you find great podcasts.

When Does Yellowstone Return?

This one is easy. Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 begins on Nov. 10 on Paramount Network. You can stream the first four-and-a-half seasons on Peacock now.

Is Kevin Costner Returning to Yellowstone?

Kevin Costner is not returning for Season 5, Part 2 of Yellowstone. Two long years of negotiations fell apart over money, his schedule, or some combination of the two. Along the way he got a divorce, released an expansive Western called Horizon and insisted it didn't have to be this way.

Fans are really upset about Costner not returning, with many threatening to boycott the show. Take a look at the comments section of any official Yellowstone social media post for examples.

Yellowstone Season 5 Recap:

Season 5, Part 1 of Yellowstone wrapped on Jan. 1, 2023. That means 22 months will have passed between new episodes — we kind of forgot what happened, too!

A short Yellowstone Season 5 recap to get you up to speed:

  • Jamie and Beth still hate each other and may be plotting to kill one another. Jamie definitely is — he convinced his girlfriend Sarah Atwood to hire a crew to do the job. Beth floated the idea of sending Jamie to the train station by her father, but the camera panned away before he gave his answer.
  • John Dutton's political career is in peril because his son Jamie convinced Montana legislature to begin impeachment proceedings. His argument is that John Dutton is using the position of governor for personal gain (he's 100 percent right), but bad press — remember the wolves shot on the ranch early in Season 5? — isn't helping.
  • Monica and Kayce have found peace. They lost their baby when Monica got in a car accident at the start of Season 5, and subsequent episodes zoomed in on her grief. By the end, they'd found solace and agreed to watch over the ranch, because ...
  • Everyone is headed to Texas. Brucellosis is threatening the cattle, so John decided to move the herd to Texas. The move might bankrupt him, but it will cost him help at home, as Rip, Walker, Ryan, Jake and Teeter are all headed south. That's bad news for Laramie, who is dating Walker, and Abby (played by Lainey Wilson), who is dating Ryan. Teeter and Colby will also be separated. Remember when she uttered "I love you" to close out an episode?
  • John Dutton and Chief Rainwater are allies. The two men forged a bond to protest a planned pipeline set to split the Broken Rock Reservation in two. It's during this press conference that Gov. Dutton learns he's being impeached.
  • Beth and Summer fought to a truce. For the better part of two episodes, cameras followed John Dutton's girlfriend Summer Higgins and Beth until tension boiled over into a pretty epic fist fight. Neither really won, but both seem to have found a new respect for the other. One can't help but wonder how Summer will be used with John Dutton out of the picture.
  • Sarah Atwood is using Jamie Dutton. Even though they're sleeping together and even though she's helping him kill her father, Sarah is still working for herself and Market Equities. There's no doubt she'll stab him in the back at some point, perhaps literally.

Yellowstone Spoiler: Is This How It Ends?

Two things happened that threaten to spoil Yellowstone before Season 5 resumes. The first is tangible, and the second is rumor.

News that Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser (Beth and Rip) are negotiating to lead a sixth season of Yellowstone (perhaps under a different name?) tell us all we need to know about who lives. Unless the ghost of Beth Dutton is going to drive a new season, she kills her brother and maybe even gains control of the land.

That is in line with what a disgruntled Montanan posted on Reddit. Furious with the cast and crew's rude behavior, they revealed details of the final scene. Beth is supposedly wheeled off on a stretcher, while Jamie dies inside the ranch house. A few people corroborated this account in the comments, but it's Reddit, so don't bet on it.
