A man on Reddit says his girlfriend became upset after she found out he can't have kids with her.

The 30-year-old man began by explaining he already has an 11-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

"We were young and she was not planned. We decided to get married and tried to have another kid five years later, but no luck. We both went to the doctor and I found out that my sperm count was very low, I am lucky to have had one kid in the first place," he shared, adding that he even tried to undergo treatment for the issue.

"I met my current girlfriend [two] years ago at a party and we hit it off and started to chat a lot, had a lot in common and she was great with my kid. Right at the start she told me that she would never want any kids of her own, nothing against kids but never would like to have one herself, so I should take that into consideration and I told her that it's not like I want to have any more kids," he recalled.

"Now [two] years later we already live together and she suddenly realized that she wants to have a kid and it sure was a surprise for me and I told her that there are [two] problems: I don't want more kids and I can't have kids," he continued.

His girlfriend was shocked and upset, but since he has a "medical problem" there's nothing he can do about it anyway.

Reddit users backed the man in the comments since his girlfriend initially told him she didn't want kids.

"She said very clearly she didn't want kids, so I understand why you didn't feel the need to tell her. If she has changed her mind, it doesn't change the fact that you haven't, and you don't want more children. If she very deeply wants a child and she is sure about that, then it's probably not going to work out, unfortunately, but not because you can't have children, because you don't want them," one person wrote.

"You were not concealing it or trying to deceive her. It was a non-issue," another commented.

"She said she doesn't want any and he said he doesn't want more either... That's the end of the discussion from [two years] ago. Her changing her mind still doesn't change his," someone else commented.
