2-Year-Old Flown to Rochester After Being Accidentally Shot by Other Child
Welcome, MN (KROC-AM News)- A toddler was flown to Rochester after being accidentally shot by another child in southern Minnesota.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of an accidental shooting that occurred in a vehicle traveling near Welcome, MN.
The report was made around 10:20 Sunday morning.
The preliminary investigation indicates a four-year-old riding in the back seat of the vehicle gained access to a loaded gun and accidentally discharged it. The round then struck a two-year-old who was also riding in the backseat.
Authorities intercepted the caller’s vehicle as it was heading towards a hospital in nearby Fairmont. Deputies and an adult rendered aid to the victim until a Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew arrived to take over medical care.
Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance then flew the child to Rochester. The toddler’s condition is not available in the news release issued by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
