ATV Crash Sends Young Rochester Man to Hospital
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin said Monday morning that deputies responded to the crash shortly before 7:30 p.m. It happened in the area of the intersection of 14th St. and 67th Ave. Northwest in Kalamar Township.
The initial crash investigation indicates the ATV was operating in the ditches in the area at a high rate of speed. The operator was thrown from the vehicle after it drove up an embankment and became airborne.
Parkin said the operator, described as a 22-year-old man from Rochester, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with head, back and neck pain.
The young man’s condition was not available Monday morning, however he was reported to have been speaking with deputies at the scene.
The ATV’s tires broke off upon landing and suffered other damages. Parkin said it appears the man was not wearing a helmet or any other safety equipment.
