Austin Man Gets Probation For Sexual Messages With Rochester Girl
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Austin man has been sentenced to five years on probation for trying to convince a young Rochester girl to send him sexually explicit videos of herself.
33-year-old Calvin Brown earlier admitted to a charge of engaging in electronic communication relating or describing sexual conduct with a child. Another felony charge of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct was dismissed through the plea agreement.
Rochester police began investigating Brown in January of last year after the victim's mother contacted authorities. She told investigators that Brown and her daughter, who was under the age of 10, had been communicating on Snapchat. She also claimed that Brown had asked the girl to send him images of herself that were sexual in nature. The criminal complaint filed against Brown last August also alleged that he sent the girl a sexually explicit image of himself.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Brown's phone and other electronic devices. Court documents say they found evidence of a conversation between the victim and Brown during which he asks to meet with the child. In another message uncovered in the search, Brown indicates his desire to have sex with the young child.
