Olmsted County Sheriff Lt. Malinda Olson said deputies responded to assist fire crews at a residence in the 200 block of 1st. Ave. Northwest shortly after 8:30 p.m. The first deputies to arrive reported a detached garage had been fully engulfed in gray smoke.

The property owners, described as a 76-year-old man and 75-year-old woman, had already gotten out of their home when first responders arrived. Olson said deputies evacuated nearby homes out of an abundance of caution.

No injuries were reported. Olson said a damage estimate is not yet available, however the homeowners reported a 2005 Dodge Pick-up and a large amount of ammunition was inside of the garage. It’s unknown if the fire caused any of the rounds in the garage to discharge.

The cause of the fire is undetermined as of Friday morning. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating cause the fire.
