Court documents say the Rochester Police Department received two cyber tips regarding suspected child sexual abuse material being uploaded to a Twitter account, Yahoo email account and IP address in Rochester. The first tip was reported last July and a second tip came in last August.

Investigators obtained the location of the IP address and searched the Rochester residence of 24-year-old Dalton Brendt, who now lives in Minnetonka, on August 31 of 2022. Court records say investigators found one video and two images depicting adults and infants involved in sexual acts on Brendt’s cell phone.

Investigators reported finding a total of 185 videos and images of suspected child pornography on two laptops and the phone seized during the search. Brendt told investigators he had viewed the material and said he deleted it after serving on a grand jury for a child pornography case.

Brendt also admitted to exchanging the material with other people. The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office charged Brendt with two felony counts of possessing child pornography involving minors under the age of 14 and a felony count of possessing child pornography involving minors under the age of 13. He was released without bail but with conditions and is due back in court on June 29.
