Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Twin Cities woman is fighting for her life following a crash with a semi on a southern Minnesota freeway.

She was driving a car and was the only occupant. The State Patrol responded to the two-vehicle crash shortly before 9:00 Monday evening. 

The crash occurred at the entrance to a construction zone on Interstate 35 about a mile north of Hwy. 21 interchange in Faribault

Both vehicles were traveling south when they collided, the state crash report says.

27-year-old Muhidin Mohamed Hussein of Minneapolis was identified as the car driver. She was taken to a hospital in the Twin Cities for what the report describes as life-threatening injuries.

48-year-old Mahad Abdi Mohamed was driving the semi. The Minnetonka man was not hurt. 

It’s not known if Hussein was buckled up, the state report indicates. Alcohol was not involved in the crash, the State Patrol says. 

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Faribault Police Department and North Memorial Ambulance also responded to the crash.
