Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester firefighters extinguished a house fire reported in northwest Rochester late Thursday morning.

A news release from the Rochester Fire Department says crews responded to the blaze in the 1050 block of Chippewa Dr. Northwest around 11:11 a.m. Responding engines were informed prior to arrival of black smoke coming through a vent that fed to the home’s kitchen and found an air exchange unit in the home’s utility room on fire when they got to the house.

Firefighters put out the blaze, checked the home for fire extension and vented smoke out of the structure. The home's main floor suffered smoke damage and crews reported minimal fire damage in the utility room.

The fire department says damage from the fire was limited because the fire had been reported early. No fire fighters or civilians were injured. 

The cause of the fire was not disclosed. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and Rochester Fire Marshall’s Division also responded to the blaze.
