Four Suspects Arrested For Recent Rochester Shooting
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department this afternoon reported the arrests of four people in connection with a shooting that occurred late last month in northeast Rochester.
A news release indicates Rochester police, with assistance from the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, executed search warrants on Wednesday at two residences in the 6800 block of Chester Heights Drive Southeast and recovered gun parts and a vehicle that was struck by a bullet during the earlier shooting incident. Two suspects, 18-year-old Raul Rios of Chester and a 16-year-old boy were taken into custody.
The statement says the two other suspects, 18-year-old Lebron Benson Giwa of Rochester and a 14-year-old boy were arrested this morning. All four are expected to face drive-by shooting, second-degree assault, and reckless discharge of a firearm charges. Rochester Police also indicated that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are expected.
The shooting incident was reported on August 23 in the 2800 block of Northern Valley Drive Northeast. The following day, Rochester police stated that an officer on patrol near Bowlocity heard the sound of the gunshots around 8:15 PM and a number of nearby residents also called 911 to report hearing multiple gunshots.
The preliminary investigation indicated that up to 30 shots were fired. A nearby apartment building and two vehicles were hit by bullets, but there were no reports of injuries.
