Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union in Austin have ratified a new four-year contract with Hormel Foods.

The 1700 members of Local 663 voted earlier this week on what had been a tentative contract agreement that was hammered out during negotiations last week. The contract talks between the UFCW and Hormel resumed last week after the union workers previously voted overwhelmingly to shoot down what had been described as the company's final offer.

In announcing the results of the ratification vote, the United Food and Commercial Workers union indicated that the new labor agreement grants the Hormel workers hourly wage increases ranging from $3 to $6. The union says the new contract also includes increased pension and 401(k) benefits while protecting healthcare coverage.

Other details about the new contract and the vote totals have not been disclosed.
