Hwy. 14 Lane Closures Begin Near Rochester This Week
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Commuters returning to work after their holiday weekend will encounter lane closures west of Rochester.

The lane closures are part of an ongoing effort to improve safety along Hwy. 14 between Rochester and Byron. The latest project in that effort focused on an intersection along the corridor.
Full-time lane closures are set to start Tuesday on Hwy. 14 at the intersection of Olmsted County Rd. 3 near Byron. The lane closures are to allow crews to convert the intersection of Hwy. 14 and County Rd. 3 into a J-Turn, which is a type of intersection traffic officials say reduces broadside crashes while still allowing vehicles to cross the roadway.
MnDOT says County Rd. 3 will be closed in both directions at Hwy. 14. The following detour will be in place:
- Motorists north of Highway 14 will take 7th Street Northeast west to 10th Avenue Northeast south to Highway 14.
- Motorists south of Highway 14 will take Country Club Road/ Olmsted Co. Rd. 34 west to 10th Avenue Southeast to Highway 14.
The detours will be in place until the project is completed in mid-June, MnDOT says. Officials advise drivers to expect delays, especially during peak travel times and to watch for uneven surfaces, equipment and workers in a construction zone.
