The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) moved up the start of the lane closures by four days.
The timeline change is to ensure crews will have proper weather conditions to lay down pavement markings for the new traffic pattern, a MnDOT news release says.

Lane Closures Now in Place on Interstate 90 Near Rochester As Massive Road Work Project Resumes
I-90 is now down to one lane in each direction at the Hwy. 52 interchange southeast of Rochester. The lane closure is to accommodate the demolition of the eastbound I-90 overpass at Hwy. 52.
The eastbound I-90 off-ramp to Hwy. 52 is also now closed. Demolition of the I-90 eastbound overpass is still scheduled to begin on Tuesday. Hwy. 52 is closed in both directions at interchange until Saturday, April 12, MnDOT says.
Southbound 52 traffic is being detoured to Hwy. 63 then to Olmsted County Rd. 7 at the Eyota exit. Northbound 52 traffic seeking Rochester will be routed up County Rd. 7, enter I-90 at the Eyota exit then rejoin Hwy. 52 at the Rochester exit.
Once the demolition is completed, southbound Hwy. 52 traffic will be able to access eastbound I-90. Motorists wishing to continue southbound on Hwy. 52 will be detoured to the Eyota exit.
The detour will be in place until the demolition project is completed in November, MnDOT says.
It’s the second year of the three year project to transform the interchange. The project calls for rebuilding the interstate’s overpasses, constructing a flyover ramp connecting southbound Hwy. 52 with eastbound I-90 and reshaping on and off ramps at the interchange.
It is scheduled to be completed next year.
