Large Early-Morning Rochester Shed Fire Under Investigation

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- An early morning Rochester structure fire is under investigation. 

That’s according to a news release issued by the Rochester Fire Department on Sunday morning. A photo from the scene shows a bright glow from the fire and a tall tower of smoke rising from it. 

Crews also had to combat dry conditions that elevated the threat of the fire spreading to other structures. 10 fire fighting units responded to the property.

Large Early-Morning Shed Fire Breaks out at Northeast Rochester Property

The news release says fire crews responded to the shed fire shortly before 2:00 Sunday morning at a property in the 1300 block of 48th St. Northeast. 

The first firefighters to arrive found the abandoned structure fully engulfed in flames and fire spreading to grass and trees that surround the shed. 

Crews first put out the fire that had caught onto the grass and trees before extinguishing the flames that had swallowed the shed. Firefighters then searched what was left of the structure and found no one inside. 

No injuries were reported in the firefight. The shed and its contents were deemed a total loss. A dollar damage estimate is not yet known. 

The Fire Marshal’s Division responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Mayo Clinic Ambulance, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and Rochester Police Department also responded to the fire.
