Ridgeland, WI (KROC-AM News)- Two people were killed and a dozen were injured as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Western Wisconsin on Monday.

The Baron County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the crash at an intersection about 20 miles east of Turtle Lake. The deadly crash was reported shortly before 6 p.m. 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a van traveling north on Hwy. 25 carrying 10 passengers and a sedan with 4 passengers that was westbound on County Rd. A collided at an intersection of the two roads. A 54-year-old man in the van and a 13-year-old boy in the car died at the scene.

The driver of the van, described as a 54-year-old male, and two 17-year-old males from the car were flown from the scene in critical condition. The rest of the occupants in the van and car were brought to a nearby hospital for serious to minor injuries. 

A deputy who responded to the crash was also transported from the scene for treatment of smoke inhalation after the van had caught on fire. Authorities say the van passengers range in age from 8-54 and the car was occupied by teenagers ranging in age from 13-17. 

So far no names have been released. The Wisconsin State Patrol and Baron County Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting with the deadly crash investigation.
