Man Dies After Rear-Ending Semi on Minnesota Freeway

Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- An elderly Minnesotan has died nearly a week after suffering injuries from rear-ending a semi on a freeway in the Twin Cities.

The State Patrol responded to the crash on Interstate 35W in Bloomington shortly after 4 p.m. on May 17. The state crash report indicates a freightliner was slowing in the southbound lanes due to traffic forming ahead of it when it was hit from behind by a sedan. 

The sedan driver, identified as 79-year-old Terry Perich of Bloomington, was taken from the crash scene to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. A news release issued Tuesday night by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner indicates Perich died from his injuries shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday. 

The State Patrol says Perich was wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol was not involved in the now deadly crash. The truck driver, identified as 29-year-old Hussien Abdi Farah of North Carolina, was not hurt.
