Man Wounded in Struggle With Deputy on Rural Minnesota Highway
Pierz, MN (KROC-AM News) - Investigators from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were dispatched late last night to central Minnesota following an officer involved use of force incident that resulted in critical injuries.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office says a man stopped for speeding and suspected of driving under the influence was seriously injured by a knife while engaged in a struggle with a deputy. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM on Highway 25 just south of Pierz.
A news release indicates the wounded man was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. It also states the struggle began after the deputy had performed a series of field sobriety tests and informed the man he was under arrest.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office says the incident was recorded on the video, which has been turned over to the BCA.
