Mayo Clinic Also Gifts $4 Million to Rochester Housing Coalition
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Mayo Clinic's $10 million donation to the Rochester School District is in the spotlight but the healthcare provider also made a major contribution to address local housing needs.
The Mayo has committed another $4 million to funding The Coalition for Rochester Area Housing. The group was formed in 2017 when the healthcare giant also stepped forward with a $4 million contribution. Over the last five years has provided the coalition with $13 million in funding.
“We are grateful for Mayo Clinic’s continued commitment to address the housing needs of our communities,” said Coalition Executive Director JoMarie Morris, “This funding will accelerate and enhance the Coalition’s collective impact to preserve and create affordable rental and entry-level homes and to expand our role as a community housing leader and innovator.”
The group was formed to promote the creation and preservation of "workforce-priced" housing in the Rochester area. Its focus is on creating new homeownership opportunities, increasing home ownership for People of Color, increasing housing options for low-income households, preserving existing affordable housing, and creating additional senior housing options.
