Moorhead, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in northwestern Minnesota are investigating after discovering a body on the banks of the Red River.

Limited information is available as of Monday morning, however a news release from the Moorhead Police Department says the body discovery was reported around 11:45 Sunday morning. 

The body was found on the Moorhead side of the river by members of the Fargo Fire Department. The deceased is described as an adult male.

His name and cause of death have not been released. Investigators are sending the body to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and body identification. 

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. The man’s identity won’t be released until the autopsy is completed and his next of kin have been notified.
