Owatonna Man Pleads Guilty in Fatal DWI Crash
Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Owatonna man has been convicted of a felony charge stemming from an alcohol-involved fatal crash last year.
Guilty Plea For Deadly Head-on Collision
Twenty-seven-year-old David Ramirez appeared before a judge in Steele County District Court this afternoon and pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss two gross misdemeanor DWI counts.

Crash at Rural Intersection
The charges stem from a deadly head-on collision that occurred on the night of November 4, 2025, at a rural intersection approximately 12 miles south of Owatonna. The criminal complaint states that the first law enforcement officer to arrive at the scene found a pickup truck positioned diagonally across the road and an SUV in the ditch.
The driver of the SUV, 71-year-old Christine Ilene Possin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputy Detected Odor of Alcohol
The court document says a Steele County deputy reported detecting an odor of alcohol coming from Ramirez. The criminal complaint also says Ramirez told a firefighter at the scene that he had been driving the pickup and had consumed two beers before the crash.

According to the charges, deputies found an open can of beer, a case of beer and a pistol inside the pickup. The criminal complaint says tests on a blood sample obtained from Ramirez measured his blood alcohol concentration at 0.20.
Ramirez is scheduled to be sentenced in January. The plea agreement does not specify a recommended sentence.
