Possible Dust Explosion at Southeast Minnesota Mill Under Investigation
The Winona Fire Department says crews were dispatched to a fire alarm call shortly before 8 p.m. They were made aware of the possible dust explosion upon arriving at the scene.
The fire broke out at Bay State Milling. Officials say crews found a smoldering fire in a dust collector storage bin.
Firefighters had to lay a long hose near the top of the building to put the flames out. The fire was contained to the storage bin area, officials say.
No injuries were reported. The Winona Fire Department says crews were at the scene for several hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. A damage estimate is not available.
Goodview Fire and Rescue, the Winona Police Department, Winona Area Ambulance, and Winona County Emergency Management also responded to the possible explosion.
