Rochester Man Caught Allegedly Flushing Drugs Sent to Prison
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to prison for a felony conviction stemming from an investigation into drug dealing in Rochester.
Olmsted County Court documents indicate that 33-year-old Matthew Jonathan Marquette was arrested last year after law enforcement investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in southeast Rochester. Olmsted County deputies reported removing three adults from the home after entering and later discovered Marquette in a bedroom wearing a jacket and a backpack.
Investigators Say He Was Disposing of Drugs in the Toilet
The criminal complaint says investigators also discovered several surveillance cameras and a monitoring station set up in the bedroom. The court document says the evidence indicated that Marquette was flushing suspected drugs down the toilet as deputies were approaching the residence.
According to the charges in the case, investigators found a baggie containing an off-white substance floating in the toilet bowl. They also searched Marquette and found 20 blue M30 pills suspected of containing fentanyl.
The Evidence Included a Ledger of Drug Sales Information
Court documents say a search of the bedroom also led to the discovery of a ledger notebook containing drug sales information, a plastic container with a substance consistent with cocaine or fentanyl, plastic baggies packaged in weights typical for drug sales, a digital scale, and other drug paraphernalia.
In addition to the M30 pills found in Marquette’s possession, the criminal complaint says the search warrant also led to the seizure of 14.3 grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine and 7.7 grams of fentanyl.

Marquette was charged with two counts of second-degree drug sales and one count each of second- and third-degree drug possession. He earlier entered into a plea agreement and admitted to one of the drug possession charges. He also entered a guilty plea to a gross misdemeanor DWI charge connected to an incident in November 2021.
He Has Multiple Previous Felony Convictions
Marquette was sentenced this week to 57 months in prison. He was given credit for 472 days he has already spent in jail.
His criminal history includes multiple previous felony convictions for drug possession, fleeing police, and malicious punishment of a child.
