Rochester PD: Weekend Assault on Trail Similar to April Incident

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are asking for the public’s help in an investigation involving an incident that occurred along a bike path in southwest Rochester last weekend.

According to Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson, a woman was running along the path near the 800 block of 16th Street Southwest when she was approached from behind and grabbed by a man who then simulated sexual acts. The woman told police she managed to break free before the man fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a thin Black male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, wearing a Minnesota Twins beanie and red pants.

Grayson noted the incident—which happened around 10 a.m. Saturday—is similar to a report from April. In that case, a man matching a similar description inappropriately touched a female runner near Soldiers Field Memorial Park.

Grayson also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings when using bike paths and trails, and to call 911 if they observe any suspicious behavior.
