A statement from Becker County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the crash around 5:30 Sunday night. The caller said the crash victim was not breathing.
Deputies responded to the crash scene about 10 miles east of Detroit Lakes and transported the driver, identified as 34-year-old Scott Fossum of Fargo, ND, to a hospital in Detroit Lakes where he eventually died from his injuries.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates Fossum had lost control of the snowmobile while traveling on a rural road. The snowmobile then rolled over into the ditch, the statement says. The deadly crash remains under investigation.
