3 Killed, 7 Hurt Following 4-Day Outbreak of Violent Crime in Minneapolis
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Minnesota’s largest city is reeling from an outbreak of violent crime.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara says he called an emergency command staff meeting and petitioned investigative help from other law enforcement agencies following the bloody stretch of days.
Officers responded to multiple shootings and a fatal stabbing over the weekend. In all three lives were lost and seven people were injured, a news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says.
As of Monday morning, only one arrest has been made in connection to the 10 violent crimes.
3 Dead After Nine Shootings & Stabbing in Minneapolis
The violence began on Thursday, a day in which officers responded to three shootings. Two happened during the early morning hours in south Minneapolis and the third occurred in the northern part of the city just before midnight.
Three gunshot victims, all men, suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, police say.
The fourth shooting occurred shortly before 2:00 Friday morning during a carjacking near downtown Minneapolis. Police say the male victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds and the suspect was later arrested by St. Paul police.
The first fatal shooting happened around 7 p.m. on Saturday in south Minneapolis. Officers responding to a shooting encountered a 20-year-old man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
About 10 minutes later, officers responded to the second shooting of the evening in south Minneapolis and located a man suffering from potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital.
Officers in north Minneapolis responded to the city’s fourth shooting on Saturday shortly after 9 p.m. Police found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for further care.
The violence continued into Sunday morning, when officers in north Minneapolis responded to a shooting and found a stolen vehicle with damage from gunshots.
Police later learned an 18-year-old man was dropped off at a hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The second fatality of the violent four-day period occurred about 45 minutes after Sunday’s first shooting.
Police say a 45-year-old man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds was lying in a road in north Minneapolis. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The final death reported during the four-day stretch of violence occurred around 3:15 Sunday morning. Officers in north Minneapolis responding to a stabbing found a 31-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He later died at a hospital.
O’Hara says none of the deaths are believed to be related. He says Minneapolis Police have received investigative assistance from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the names of the violent crime victims at a later time, O'Hara says.
