The latest round of winter weather has caused several schools to cancel activities and classes on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026.  Below are the latest update regarding those closings and cancellations for Southeast Minnesota.

National Weather Service: Extreme Cold Watch Issued for Parts of Southeast Minnesota

The National Weather Service recently alerted residents about an Extreme Cold Watch for a large number of counties in Southeast Minnesota and Western Wisconsin due to dangerous wind chills. 

WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 below possible.

WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Minnesota and northwest and west central Wisconsin.

WHEN...From Thursday evening through Saturday morning.
