Top 10 Items People in Minnesota Stock Up On When They Hear "Storm"

Most of us are done with winter but Mother Nature wants us to hunker down one more time because she is bringing the snow our way!  But first, we've got to get to the store and stock up on a few items.

Top 10 Items People in Minnesota Stock Up On When They Hear "Storm"

I am pretty sure that as soon as the word "storm" shows up in the forecast, people in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin are just trained to hop in their cars and go to the store. Stocking up on supplies becomes our #1 priority and we shop like we have absolutely nothing in our house to eat. So, we will up our carts with all "the things" and hope we grabbed enough to make it through the storm.

FYI - we will make it through the storm, and some of us will do that with Double Stuffed Oreos. Some of us will not...because the store shelf was empty by the time we got there.

Below are a few of the top items that we grab at the last minute before the storm hits.

What do you buy at the store before storms hit Minnesota?

When Storm Olive was coming our way a few weeks ago, I made a few attempts to grab items from a store.  It was basically a shopping fail though. I had a boot on my foot so I was trying to find a place to do curbside pickup.  Well, I waited a bit too long because there wasn't any curbside pickup available at all when I looked.  So, I thought I'd try delivery from HyVee.  Nope - 3 days later was the earliest for that.  Yes, 3 days!  I've even got the HyVee Plus and couldn't get anything earlier.

Silver Lake Foods was my hero.  I needed a place where I could park close to the door and not have to walk too far.  This was the best choice and thankfully, they had everything I needed - eggs, bread, milk, half & half (I'm a coffee snob), cereal, yogurt, and cheese.

One Quick Reminder If You Are Going to The Store Before The Storm Hits

If you are going to the store, I know you are in a rush, you are busy, and you expect people to help you.  Unfortunately, I know several people that work in the grocery store industry and people were already starting to flood the stores Wednesday night to stock up.  Sadly, many brought their bad attitudes and rude behavior with them and those employees are ready to quit because of the way they are being treated by customers.

Please remember to smile, show kindness, and say thank you to those that are helping you no matter what store you are shopping at...especially if you still want them to be there the next time you are shopping.

13 Foods That Will Be Hard to Find in the U.S. in 2023
