Man Found Dead Inside of Bemidji Apartment, Woman & Child Transported to Hospital
Bemidji police responded to a call regarding a deceased person on Monday at the Courtyard Apartments, located at 1300 America Ave. in Bemidji.
Responding officers detected a strong odor near the apartment the dead man was inside of. The woman and child were in the same unit, the news release says.
Paramedics began treating the woman and child, law enforcement evacuated the rest of the apartment complex and the Bemidji Fire Department addressed the potential gas leak threat.
The woman and child were taken to a hospital for treatment. Minnesota Energy responded to the scene and determined there was not a gas leak, police say.
All residents of the apartment complex were allowed to return and law enforcement launched an investigation into the man’s death.
His name has not been released and an update on the conditions of the woman and child are not available.
The news release does not say whether or not investigators determined the source of the strong odor. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
