Bittersweet closing news just popped up in Rochester, Minnesota.  For me personally, this is a place that will always hold a special spot because I'll never forget showing up (late) for a meeting, ordering coffee, and meeting my now boss.

Bittersweet News - Dunkin Closing Store in Rochester, Minnesota

Almost seven years ago to the day, I got a text message from a guy named Dunken who wondered if I could chat with him real quick.  Most of Rochester knows this guy from the morning show on 106.9 KROC.  The place he wanted to meet at was a spot on 1st Ave. called Dunkin Donuts Dunken at Dunkin...I didn't laugh in front of him but it is kind of funny.

About 1.5 million people are laid off from a job each month in the United States.  Sadly, I was part of that statistic in 2017.  It is a horrible feeling.  The process and paperwork is ridiculous.  The hunt to find a new job is tiring.  And when you walk out of your job for the final time, it is defeating.

The day I met Dunken at Dunkin was that day for me.  During our conversation, he asked me what my availability was like and I let him know I am pretty much open after today.  I was going to pick up my box of personal items and I was officially done.

Every time that I've gone in to this Dunkin, I am reminded of this day that truly changed my life.  Unfortunately, after today, all of this will just be a memory because the news is out that this Dunkin location in Rochester, Minnesota is closing.

October 31st is the Final Day for This Dunkin Store in Rochester, Minnesota

According to several news sources, the final day to grab a donut and coffee at the downtown Rochester location at 15 1st Ave SW is Thursday, October 31st.

If that coffee and donut craving hits and you are still wanting some Dunkin, there is another location in Rochester that will be staying open at 2519 Commerce Drive NW.

These 9 Items Have Been Pumpkin-Spiced...And They Didn't Need To Be

There is an almost "cult-like" obsession when it comes to pumpkin spice. And I blame Starbucks for starting all of it.

At least coffee is something that makes sense to flavor with pumpkin spice. Some of the other creations that have been popping up through the years with this added flavor are...well...not necessary.
