10 Reasons We Should Be Thankful That We Live in Minnesota...and not Iowa

I gripe and complain a lot about Minnesota, especially on the days when my nose hairs freeze, but there are a few good qualities of our state that I am thankful for, especially after this past year.  Now that I have officially spent half of my life in Iowa and half in Minnesota, I can verify that the Land of 10,000 Lakes is truly the better place to live.

  • #1 - Taco Tico.  My hometown of Fort Dodge, Iowa has one of the Taco Tico locations and it is phenomenal.  Crustos are chips that I believe were made in heaven and sent down for us to enjoy.  Yum!

  • #2 - Hickory Park.  Located in the college town of Ames, Iowa is the one and only Hickory Park restaurant.  (I was just there on Sunday!)  I have zero idea how they make their food so fast and keep prices so affordable but this IS the place to stop if you are ever wanting a good burger.  Not only have I been to their current location more times than I can count, but I remember eating at the restaurant before their fancy expansion happened.  Yes, I am that old!  Oh, and their ice cream menu is something I can't explain, you just have to go and experience it for yourself.
