Spring is always a time of some crazy weather here in Land of 10,000 Lakes. 87 degrees one day, and then snowing just a few days later. Frost in the morning while you're on your way to work, but then driving home with your windows down in the afternoon. Mother Nature is pretty wild and there are pictures that the Minnesota DNR shared on Facebook that easily proves that point.

These pictures from the Minnesota DNR were shared on the Minnesota State Parks and Trails Facebook page earlier today. They were taken at Grand Portage State Park, so way, way up north, and they are all photos of just how crazy-looking ice can be in the right scenario. They even describe it as 'otherwordly' in the post.

The DNR says that "[d]ue to high-water levels on the Pigeon River and overnight temps that are below freezing, the High Falls viewing platforms and trees at Grand Portage State Park are being laminated in an ice buildup." This is causing wild stuff like this to happen:

Isn't that crazy?!

The DNR does mention that this also makes everything super, super slippery.

They say that if you want to head out on the trails, before you go, you need to "check the park’s homepage to review current conditions, check for closures, decide what footwear would be best, and if traction devices/snowshoes are needed."

It's bizarre and dangerous, but also really beautiful. Mother Nature is so cool!
