I typically don’t get invited to tag along to Target because my wife likes to take her time when shopping and I’m “annoying”. Our shopping styles clash - she likes to browse, I like to get it and get out.

I did get the rare invite to join her on Saturday morning and noticed a huge project being constructed in the store. There is a giant E.T. like plastic bubble that stretches from the ceiling to the floor with signs that says “We’re building a better Target for you.”

Back in 2020, Target and Ulta Beauty announced a partnership aiming to open 800 Ultas within Target stores. The north Rochester Target is next in line.

The Ulta at Target will have around 1,000 square feet of retail space and be conveniently located next to the existing beauty section.

A Target press release explains: “To bring Ulta Beauty’s industry-leading expertise and established guest-centric experiences to life, the company will train newly hired Target team members to serve as experts on prestige beauty offerings, aligning to Target’s focus on providing guest service with deep product expertise. The shop-in-shop is expected to be enhanced with Ulta Beauty’s immersive, in-store digital discovery tools such as GLAMLab, a virtual try-on tool that provides safe trial across beauty categories.”
