We Now Know What Former News Anchor In Minnesota, James Wilcox, Is Doing

If you've been watching ABC 6 News lately, quite a few of the individuals we have relied on for news and weather are no longer there.  Laura Lee left this past Spring and is now working in Duluth.  Chris Kubal, the previous Chief Meteorologist, is now in Des Moines, Iowa.  But what happened to James Wilcox?

What Happened to James Wilcox on ABC 6 News in Minnesota?

In September, I heard the news that James Wilcox was no longer employed by ABC 6 News.  Rumors started circulating extremely fast on social media about his departure that seemed to all be hearsay so I reached out to James to get a better idea of what happened.  If you missed his response, get caught up here.  In that story though, I mentioned that I would share James' next steps...and I am happy to say that I have that info!

What Is James Wilcox, Former Anchor at ABC 6 News, Doing Now?

James gave his fans a little bit of a tease the other day on his Facebook page, a picture of a gorgeous sunrise with the words, "What a beautiful way to wake up!".  He even put up a Reel showing him walking in a very shiny hallway with the following,

When one door closes another one opens.

Any guesses what I am going to be doing?

 

The only assumption I could give, based on the teases on James' Facebook page, is that James has much shinier shoes than I do.

You don't have to keep guessing on James' next steps because he reached out and shared a bit of what his day-to-day is like right now.

I recently started a longterm substitute teaching position at Hayfield High School. I'll be filling-in for one of the English teachers who is going on maternity leave. It is an exciting and unexpected opportunity. I actually graduated from HHS 22 years ago. I now have former teachers as colleagues and the kids of former classmates as students.

I'll be working in Hayfield for up to 12 weeks and teaching a variety of classes that are part of the high school English cirriculum. They include courses like writing , communications and literature. I've been given the green light to get creative and bring my real world experience into the classroom. I'm excited to do that and I hope to make a positive impact on my students. I'm grateful Hayfield is giving me this opportunity.
