Heat Advisory Sunday Across Southeast Minnesota
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for southeast Minnesota, in effect from 1:00 pm through 8:00 pm Sunday.
Heat and humidity across the region Sunday afternoon will drive heat indices to near 101, and may cause heat illnesses.
An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the Twin Cities and portions of south central Minnesota, including Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, and Watonwan counties -- where heat indices could rise near 110.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.
