The National Weather Service says there's a risk of strong to severe storms across southern Minnesota this afternoon and evening.

Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats, with frequent lightning. The severe weather threat across southern Minnesota will mainly be from 4 pm to 10 pm.

From the National Weather Service this morning: Scattered showers and storms will develop ahead of a cold front late this afternoon across the region, especially in eastern MN and west-central WI. These storms will move southeast with time. A few storms may be severe with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats.
