The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, in effect until 11 pm for a large portion of southern Minnesota.

The watch area includes Blue Earth, Brown, Dakota, Goodhue, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Rice, Scott, Waseca, and Watonwan counties (+more) in southern Minnesota.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather in and near the watch area.

Large hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and a few tornadoes are all possible in and near the watch area.

Stay weather alert and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Additional severe weather threats may redevelop in the overnight hours. Pay special attention if you are camping or have other outdoor plans tonight.
