Camp Companion volunteer, Melissa Beach, received a call on Saturday at about 5:30 PM about a loose pit bull in SE Rochester. K9 Ninja, Roo Yori, joined Melissa in the hunt to find this dog.

According to a Facebook post by the City of Rochester Police Department about this incident, the person who had called and reported the loose dog said that she was guarding a dumpster. The immediate worry was that she had recently had puppies and that's why she was guarding that area.

Melissa and Roo went out in search of the dog. After a while, they were able to find her a couple of blocks from where the caller had reported her. They tried to befriend the dog but they weren't successful.

Melissa set up a live trap to hopefully capture the dog and then had to leave, but Roo staid behind. Finally, at 2 AM the dog was captured and taken to the Rochester Animal Control Shelter to receive care. That's a ton of dedication on Roo's part! Way to go!

Because of the help Roo and Melissa gave, Animal Control presented them "with a challenge coin from the Rochester Police Department." Definitely well deserved!
