Maddie & Tae’s Sophomore Album Will Be a Concept Album About Relationships
Maddie & Tae fans have been waiting on the pair's sophomore album, and backstage at the 2018 ACM Awards, Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye offered some details on the project. After moving to Mercury Nashville in 2017, Marlow and Dye say they have a new single dropping at the end of April, and that fans can look forward to their upcoming release being a concept album.
"So, it's like a story," Dye shares with WYRK's Liz Mantel and Clay Moden. "Basically, through the whole record, it's going to start at the beginning of a relationship, and then it's gonna go into the 'in love' phase, then the 'breakup' phase, just like it always happens. And then, at the end, it was really important for us to have that redemptive moment."
Maddie & Tae say they're excited to get the album out to their fans, especially after its release was delayed by their label change in 2017. The extra time, however, gave the duo a chance to hone the project into something they think all of their listeners will appreciate.
"I think anyone is going to be able to relate," Dye says, "because you can go through heartbreak in all different settings, in all kinds of friendships and relationships."
