Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - As the number of new COVID-19 cases continues to fall across Minnesota and the nation, the Mayo Clinic has announced an easing of hospital visitor restrictions.

Beginning Thursday, the Mayo Clinic will increase the number of allowed visitors for each adult inpatient to two. Those visitors will still need to be designated, consistent, and at least five years old. Any visitor under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. A news release also indicates two designated and consistent visitors over the age of 15 will be allowed in the Family Birth Center. Overnight restrictions are also being eased.

Mayo previously relaxed restrictions on pediatric patient visitors after imposing strict visitor limitations when the omicron variant COVID-19 surge was peaking in the region in early January. Those restrictions limited each adult inpatient to just one consistent and designated visitor.
