MetroNet Ramping Up Construction Work in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Workers have been busy in Rochester neighborhoods installing the fiber-optic network that will become the city’s second full-service cable TV provider.
Indiana-based MetroNet was awarded a city franchise agreement in February and the company has been ramping up its installation work in recent weeks.
MetroNet Spokesman Keith Leonhardt says the company is hoping to begin offering services to Rochester customers by late October or early November. Like current provider Spectrum, customers will have access to phone, internet and TV services. Unlike Spectrum, MetroNet’s service will be 100-percent fiber optic, including connections to customer homes and businesses.
MetroNet is planning to open a retail/service center in the city.
Under the terms of the franchise agreement, MetroNet is required to offer its products to at least 80-percent of Rochester's housing units within 5 years.
